The Anti-Thyroglobulin (Anti-Tg) test detects antibodies against thyroglobulin, a key protein involved in thyroid hormone production. Elevated Anti-Tg levels are commonly associated with autoimmune thyroid diseases such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves’ disease. This test is also used in the follow-up of thyroid cancer patients to monitor for recurrence after thyroidectomy or radioactive iodine therapy. When combined with Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase (Anti-TPO) testing, it provides a comprehensive assessment of thyroid autoimmunity.
